iRetouch 2.0
Practical tips about Basic tools:
- Plan your photo retouching - start with Basic tools, such as crop and brightness/contrast. Basic tools do not alter image size (unless you use Resize) and allow saving in full resolution. However. when you switch from Basic to Precise tools - you will loose all undo's and redo's for basic tools and image will be reduced in size according to canvas size settings (default - 800x600px, min - 320x480px, max - 1024x1024px). This is currently a necessary trade-off to allow both hi-res (up to 4096x4096px) retouching with Basic tools and pixel-wise manipulations with Precise tools on RAM-limited mobile devices.
- In Basic tools - do not forget to press "Apply" button.
- Tap - 'w:h' to change crop ratio.
- Zoom in (pinch gesture) for better cropping.
Practical tips about Precise tools:
- Maximum zoom scale is 200%, minimum - 100%. To see whole image at once - tap small image preview (in the upper right corner) or switch to Basic tools.
- To select image region press Pan&Zoom or touch small image preview and tap region of interest.
- To start editing, select necessary tool and press Edit. Press Pan&Zoom to adjust image position.
- Switching from Precise to Basic tools clears undo. There are 5 undo steps in total, however you can always use Eraser (Effects->Eraser) to remove unwanted editing or press Clear All (Effects->Clear All) to undo all changes at once.
- Eraser works by removing "upper" layer which contains all changes to an image, including color manipulations in Basic tools. If you adjust brightness/contrast it is recommended that you save and reopen image to fix changes so that they cannot be removed with eraser. Don't worry - saving and reopening image one or two times will not noticeably degrade image quality (JPEG compression quality set by Apple for images saved to iOS Photo Library is a quite low but generally acceptable).
- Pencil draws continuous lines with hard edges, while Brush tool (first tool in Stamps toolbar) draws numerous circles with set opacity and edge softness.
- Pencil, Brush and Stamps work with any of color blending modes (Settings->Blend Modes). To apply color blending to entire image, simply press 'Entire Image' in side menu and touch your photo.
- At detailed zoom level, use Pencil instead of Brush to ensure that all lines are drawn continuously.
New Effects toolbar:
- Blur - blurs all image and allows you to erase blurred parts creating some DSLR-like effects of shallow depth of field. Eraser is switched on automatically after blur generation is completed.
- Zoom blur - center of "zooming" is adjustable! It will be exactly in the center of currently visible area, so use Pan&Zoom or image preview to change it. When effect generation is complete (may take up to a minute on older device) Eraser is switched on automatically , just like when using Effects->Blur.
- Desaturate - allows you to create amazing "color on black&white" effect (first available on iPhone in our "Magic Touch" app back in 2008, and later become highly popular thanks to Hendrik Kueck's super-responsive "Color Splash" app).
